Newsletter Dec. 2006
zaterdag, 23 december 2006Dear relatives and friends,
By means of this letter we want to update you on what is happening with us. We want to tell you what we experience as a family. That does not mean we forget why we are in Guatemala: to serve the church.
Newsletter Feb. 2004
dinsdag, 3 februari 2004About 10 years ago the Iglesia Reformada (Reformed Church) of Cubulco was instituted through the work of Rev. Ken Herfst and other Free Reformed mission workers. Our primary task is to strengthen this work and we are in the process of forming a denomination. There is a church in the town of Cubulco and there are church buildings in six aldeas surrounding Cubulco. There are also some groups that meet in other places to worship the Lord; some have the desire to build their own church. Our efforts are concentrated on instilling the conviction that for a church to function well it needs a consistory that functions well. This means instructing the church members of each congregation so that men will be chosen who know their responsibilities and who can carry these out in a biblical manner.
Newsletter May 2003
maandag, 19 mei 2003It has been a long time since we sent you our last newsletter. It is high time, therefore, that we write you again. We thank Mrs. R. Pronk for the English translation. This time the children have written their little notes too. We received a lot of nice reactions to the previous letter and therefore we will continue this with renewed zeal.
Everything is well with us. Now that we have been here for more than a year, we can say that we are completely occupied with the work and that we feel at home. We hope to focus on several items so that we can give you an insight into our work here.
Newsletter Sept. 2002
woensdag, 18 september 2002Cubulco - It’s a pleasure for us to present you with our first newsletter from Guatemala. (The issues 1-3 were from the time before we came here.) At first it was a letter in Dutch to inform our family and friends in the Netherlands. It was also sent to the pastors of the FRC. Soon it became clear that it would be good to have an English translation. The time-factor made it difficult for us to make one. We are glad that Peter and Ludy Luth were willing to make this translation.
Newsletter April 2002
donderdag, 18 april 2002Greeting from Costa Rica. This is the first time that I am writing an article in The Messenger and it is a great pleasure to do so. In this way we hope to stay in touch with each other on a regular basis and be one in the service of our Lord, one in prayers and in sharing the blessings that He give us.
Newsletter Sept.2001
maandag, 17 september 2001This is our first newsletter in the English language. The time that we hope to leave the Netherlands for Guatemala to finally start our work there is coming closer. With this in mind, we like to tell you something about who we are, the things that happened to us during the last few months and our expectations about the near future. Perhaps we don’t know each other very well, but we would like to be in touch with each other in our thoughts and prayers.
